2010 May-June - Third year Choreographic performance at University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy „North Pole in the head“, EST
This performance was firstly inspired by silent people, the sign language to communicate with, the body language that you need to use to let others know what do you want. Later on the thought connected to homeless people. We started looking for homeless people in the city of Viljandi. We had prepared some drinks that day with my friend collaborator and warm clothes to wander around for potentially a longer period of time.
A man was wheeling an abandoned shopping cart around on the day we met him. He was a bit surprised when we asked to film him, but he didn't actually mind. He had a story to tell- about his children that he hasn't seen for a long time, about his daughter that he's very proud of.
I was thinking about how he actually feels, without ever asking this. I was just wondering, what his soul is like. I wanted to picture it. In choreographed motion. And so I did.
On the screen you see the homeless man's eyes while he's telling us his story. On the stage there is his imaginative soul interacting with his words. We can't hear the words, everything is happening as in space of being. It is an ever flowing fragment of helplessness, silence, fading thoughts.
